Ninja missions are tasks that can be done to unlock more characters.
Step-by-step guide to do a mission:
- 1) Be the required rank or higher.
- 2) Have any required missions completed.
- 3) Press the Start Playing button.
- 4) Select any characters involved in any missions you wish to work on.
- 5) Play the game normally.
- 6) Finally understand that missions are not a seperate game but work in the background passively.

The ninja ladder

Experience
Experience forms the basis of your level, ninja rank and ladder rank. Every player starts the game with 0 experience points. By playing ladder games, you will be able to raise your experience. Your experience is an indication of your skill.
Your experience will increase when you defeat an opponent. The amount of experience you gain depends on the level difference and expected skill between you and your opponent. By beating an opponent with a much higher level you will receive a large amount of experience. Beating an opponent of a much lower level will grant you only a small amount of experience. The experience gained from a battle can range from 15 to 600.
Your experience can also be decreased by losing a battle. Much like gaining experience, this amount depends on the level difference between you and your opponent. By losing from a much higher level opponent you will lose very little experience. Losing from a much lower leveled opponent will cost you a very high amount. Aside from you opponent, the experience you lose in a battle also depends on your own level. During the first 25 levels, players will lose less experience from losing agame. This is done to help the less skilled players also progress in the ladder. The experience lost from a battle can range from 0 to 600. At this point there is no experience decay for inactive players. This may be introduced in the future.
Levels
As you gain more experience, you will also increase in level. Each player starts at level 1. To reach level 2, you will need 200 experience. With each level the experience that is required will increase, making it harder and harder to progress, whereas level 50 requires 50.000 experience points.
Ninja rank
As you rise in level, you will also gain new Ninja ranks. Each player starts the game as an “Academy Student”. From here on, you will receive a higher rank every five levels. This rule applies to all Ninja ranks except for the rank of “Hokage”. The “Hokage” rank is only given to the very best player. Aside from being number 1 in the ladder, this player must also be at least level 46. With each new Ninja rank, your icon and player card will change.
The following Ninja Ranks can be achieved with the specified levels:
Level 1-5: Academy Student
Level 6-10: Genin
Level 11-15: Chuunin
Level 16-20: Missing-Nin
Level 21-25: Anbu
Level 26-30: Jounin
Level 31-35: Sannin
Level 36-40: Jinchuuriki
Level 41-45: Akatsuki
Level 46-50: Kage
Level 46-50 + Rank #1: Hokage
Ladder rank
The ladderrank is the position a player has in the ladder. The more points a player gains, the higher the player is ranked. Rank #1 is always kept by the player with the most points.
Players get a ladderrank as soon as they are in the top 1.000 of the ladder. The ladderranks are updated every 15 minutes. The player that has reached Kage level and is Rank #1 on the ladder may call himself/herself the Hokage of Naruto-Arena.
Matchup System
When you start a ladder game, you will be automatically matched up against an opponent of equal skill level. Your skill level is determined by your level and your performance in the last couple of games. If you are performing extremely well, you will be matched against players of a higher level then your own. This will make rising to your “real” level in the ladder go much quicker.

Major bug fixes, custom backgrounds and more!

Balance change: the defence reduction on Gaara’s desert coffin now lasts 3 turns.
Finally, an update many of you have been waiting for! We have been working hard to fix many of the bugs and glitches in the game, and this update is the result. We have made some major adjustments to the engine, and most of the bugs and glitches people found should be gone now.
These are just a few examples of the bugs that are fixed:
- The problem of incorrect rounding of damage and improve effects which caused Lee to die in gates and caused Toad Bind to incorrectly increase damage.
- Ino’s Mind Body Disturbance is able to hit through invulnerability effects again.
- Sasuke’s Sharingan now works properly again.
- Sakura’s Inner Sakura now works properly.
- And far more!
The flash has also received a small upgrade. There is now an extra sound fx when a character dies and buttons have been added to reduce and increase volume.
The biggest upgrade is the ability to adjust the backgrounds of the flash. Next to the regular moving background, the flash now also features a lite version. In the lite version the background is static, and thus requires less processing power from your computer. (Please note that the lite version does not reduce lag in anyway, this is a problem on the server side.) Lastly the flash also features custom backgrounds. You are now able to select your own background picture for both the character selection and the battle screen!

Major Summoning Gamabunta makes Jiraiya invulnerble for it’s duration rather than negating the opponent’s defense and giving him damage reduction.
*BOOST* Toad Mouth Bind now costs 1 genjutsu and 1 random. *EDIT* Duration and cooldown decreased by one round.
Tsunade
Creation Rebirth heals 35 health with a 1 round cooldown and a cost of 1 ninjutsu chakra.
Orochimaru
Cursed Seal Technique now does 25 undefendable damage and gives 2 extra chakra with a 1 round cooldown. It is no longer permanent.
Kusanagi now costs 1 bloodline and 1 random chakra and has a 1 round cooldown but does 5 damage less. *EDIT* Damage reduced to 20, cooldown removed. *RE-EDIT* Damage is 25 but 1 round cooldown returned.

Perhaps the strongest of the three sound genin, Dosu Kinuta uses his implanted Melody Arm to amplify sound waves and increase the power of his taijustu.
Kin Tsuchi
One of the three sound genin who took part in the chuunin exams, Kin Tsuchi uses strings and the sound of bells to confuse and incapacitate her foes.
Zaku Abumi
Zaku Abumi is one of the three sound genin sent to the chuunin exams. He was surgically altered with hollow tubes in his arms, allowing him to create waves of compressed air.

Haku is the sole survivor of his clan and is the subordinate of Momochi Zabuza. His bloodline ability allows him to potentially disable and attack all his enemies.

Jiroubou is the largest member of the Sound four. His fighting style involves powerful physical attacks in combination with manipulation of earth.

Sandaime Hokage, known as the God of Shinobi, was the strongest Kage to ever live. He is able to concentrate on one opponent while his summon, Enma, confronts others. When all else fails he can summon the death god.

The First Hokage and the founder of the Hidden Village of Konoha, Shodaime has the ability to create and manipulate trees. This ability to give life shows the extent of his power.

Please be sure to regularly check both the Character Revamp and Latest Balance Changes sections of the forums at least once a day right now. Changes to older characters are occuring on a near daily basis right now. Also this should be finished in the next 4 to 5 days.

Hi all,
Last weekend one of our game servers, arena3, went down because of overload. It is not sure what got damaged yet. Although we are trying to expand and get more servers, we have just lost one. We hope to see it back online soon. Meanwhile you can expect slow load times. It might not be good to play ladder games till Arena3 is backup (if you care about your statistics).

Old Engine Character Revamps

That’s right. While Mark and GT are off working out all the bugs and glitches in the engine I am revisiting the older characters (with player feedback) and in some cases the older characters will see minor, but likely not major, changes. This is partly to bring the old engine characters more in-tune with the new engine and in some cases for balance. The first change is to Naruto’s Shadow Clones. I do not plan to make a news post for each revamp that occurs so be sure to regularly check the Character Revamp section of the forums. It can be found in the Latest Balance Changes section which is in the News and Announcements section.

The week after

Here we are now, roughly a week after the big release. We are very pleased to say the feedback on the big update has been generally very positive. The staff worked very hard on it so we are happy to see our work has paid off.
But (as expected) there are still quite a few bugs and glitches. Most have to do with the servers being completely overloaded, and some are errors in the engine. We are currently working very hard to fix all of these issues, so keep the feedback coming!
First item on the list is making some final adjustments to the engine. We are almost done, so hopefully we will be able to tackle most of the engine related bugs next week.
We are also in the process of acquiring new servers again (we hoped the previous server upgrade would have been enough for now, but obviously it wasn’t). This should address the major loss bugs, and make the game run a lot faster.
The moment the new servers arrive, we will release the new set of shippuuden characters. (Since releasing new characters on the current severs would mean a crash, we won’t be able to release anything before that time.)
We are also working on some extra features like a lite version of the flash and custom in-game backgrounds! (I know, I know, you have been waiting far too long for this… but it finally coming!)
As for a release date, well… I really shouldn’t say anything (thinking about the uproar it caused last time…), but we will gradually be making the updates along the upcoming two to three weeks.
